Sunday 9 June
We got the train to Christ Church Anglican early this morning, and had time to chat to the minister from UK and some of the international congregation. We had morning tea, and were invited to lunch at the regular local cafe, but they took so long after the service that we went.
I thought we would have a quick look at Castel dell'Ovo, which is on the water's edge nearby. I read it closed on Sundays at 14:00 and I was hoping that was wrong, but when we got there at 13:30 we were told it had closed already.
So we walked along the promenade and crossed over to the shady park on the other side of the road when we had the chance. We had brought our swimming gear with us, but once we saw where the locals were paddling, we gave that idea up, and just kept walking.
We got to Mergellina where the big boats are, then left the water and found the railway station. We recognised it and the YHA hostel behind it as where we had stayed in 2000.
We turned on the a/c and stripped off as soon as we walked in the door. Once recovered, I did another load of washing, and we started to pack up ready for our departure tomorrow.
