Tuesday 7 May Day 4
I thought we could go to the Turkish Airlines office in town
to see what they could do for us. After
about an hour, we found that our bags had arrived, and that the courier would
bring them to the office. We walked
around the markets which were set up at the local mini-bus station just up the
street, then waited at the TKY building. It was after 12 when the courier
arrived, so we took our bags home, and headed into town.
After lunch at McD, we walked through the souvenir market (and saw the print of a very nice wooden carving – but no-one there to sell it to me), to the cathedral, the Arch of Triumph, then to the Art Gallery.
The Art Gallery building
There was not a great deal on display, but there was a guy playing a dulcimer, which we enjoyed very much.
At last we found the tourist office where we were welcomed with open arms and photographed as a tourism wonder, (and put on their FB page).
" All the way from Australia 🇦🇺 isn’t this amazing? What are you waiting for, you should visit us too! 🍷 "
and directed
to the Stefan cel Mare park, where they have writers’ heads displayed like we
have PMs.
We caught a tram back down to the supermarket, but ended up 1 stop further, so we had a good look at the memorial to those deported in WW11.
So we got some more dinner, and spent the evening repacking our suitcases, and getting ready for the morning.
